Have a Restful Happy Sabbath

I've noticed many of you visit my blog as a "Sunday" Sabbath Ritual (from looking at my Statistics page). Here's a couple things to give you a smile.
Have a Blessed and Happy Sunday (or whatever day you have your Sabbath rest on), as you turn your mind onto the things of the Lord.

Love Laura-Lee

National Evangelism (HUG a CHRISTIAN) Day

I believe this is "National Evangelism Day"  in America. So if you know an Evangelical or Born Again Christian, go and give them a big hug and tell them "Why" you're hugging them. See what they do.

Trust me. We could use it. We don't  have it half as much "together" as we are pretending to.

Love Laura-Lee

CAUTION: The DEAD are ALIVE and Among Us

"As for you, you were DEAD in your transgressions and sins, when you followed the ways of this world and the ruler of the kingdom of the air ...

All of us lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature ...

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us ALIVE in Christ even when we were DEAD in transgressions - ..."

Ephesians, Chapter 2 (from the Bible)

* Please find a Bible and read the entire quotation. Not just the bits and pieces I've given you.

You may yourself feel DEAD inside and there is a way to be alive. Not only feel, but actually be made alive and "pass from death to life".

Be safe.

Love Always, Laura-Lee

PRAY for my EMAIL: NO! I'm not Kidding

LauraLeeWasHere@gmail.com email has suddenly stopped working & if I can't get it going again ... Well. There will be vast consequences.

I've come to recognize when something is less of a technical issue and more of a spiritual one. This is one of those cases. Jesus knows what solution is best but we need your prayers too.

You've helped me out this way in the past. I know I can count on you again. I'll let you know when and what happens.

Love Laura-Lee

*** UPDATE:

Wow! Can you people pray up results or what?! After spending hours trying to find the solution to not being able to access my LauraLeeWasHere@gmail.com INBOX, I decided as a 'last ditch effort' to come and ask you all to pray.  Within only a few hours I now have full access to my LauraLeeWasHere@gmail.com INBOX restored.

Why do I always WAIT to ask for prayer AFTER I've tried everything else? If I couldn't have gotten it working again it would have meant literally hundreds of hours of WASTED work and time I spent on the Internet. And it happened after a long week, when I was very tired and easily discouraged.

Thank you, my wonderful Readers/Friends. Whether ALL or ONE of you prayed. Jesus heard you and came through in response to your prayers.  And very quickly too.

"Oh. Thank you, Lord. I was so discouraged, but you came through for me again. After all my hours of pathetically struggling alone to find the answer and fix it myself, I know you gave me the idea to come here and ask for prayer help.  Thank you for again proving that you "delight" in helping us and your power is somehow "released" when we pray for each other. Although I don't really understand how. Thank you for every person who took a moment to pray for me. Give them a special blessing this weekend and let them know that they are precious to me and so much more so to you.
Love always, Your Laura-Lee"   (JESUS Was Here)

WARNINGS Password Protections

WARNING:  I got a warning from Facebook that someone had signed into my account but they were blocked because it came from New Brunswick. (very far from where I am).

No doubt someone saw my password at a different  website (probably where they work and have access to it), then took a chance that I used the SAME ONE at my Facebook account. They were right!  If it hadn't been for the fact that both our locations are known and far apart, it would have worked completely.

The real problem is not just how often you change your password but using the SAME password at different websites.

The best thing to do is have your passwords written in a book and in code.

And NOT in a book with the words  "Secret Passwords"  written on it. (I see them selling those at stores)

Let's sum up:

Make up many different passwords (it's good to pick a place and time from your past that made a personal impact on you but that not everyone knows about - Not the day you got your picture in the newspaper because you were hit by a bus).

Write them into a book that is disguised (looks like a recipe book or scribbler or whatever)

Write  your password using a simple code (such as) :

Sp__________r__M______________--

This jogs my memory,
shows me how many words,
where the capital letters are,
how many numbers there are and
where they are in the sentence.

This allows me to have an intricate password, but there's no way someone's going to guess that thing.

And even if my password can be seen at one website, if I'm not using the same  one over  and over, the harm someone can do me will be limited.

As I always say, "Hope for the best, but plan for the worst."
Shame on me for getting lax and lazy about my passwords.

Hope my close call will remind you to keep safe.
Sincerely,  Laura-Lee

BTW. The answer to the above password Code is:  "SplendorofMajesty31".  Would you have guessed that? Even if you found my password book?

"THESE BONES" My Christian Music Video

I wanted to create a PLAYLIST for "Christian" Halloween Music so I headed to YouTube. There just didn't seem to be anything much available along that line.

So, I decided to get motivated and created my own Halloween Music Video and "treat" you to yet another original "Laura-Lee Was Here Production". That's the video you will see below.

Then you will see a LINK below that which will take you to my YouTube Channel. I think Satan is IN OUR FACES, enough and the time for Christians to just ignore Halloween is over.

I hope you like the video I made. It's not very long but it turned out better than what I have talent for (always a sign that Jesus is involved).

Lazarus Lyrics

There is a  video in the right column of this blog called, "Lazarus Come Forth. These are the LYRICS.

I AM the Resurrection and the Life
he that Believeth in Me
Tho he were dead, Yet shall he live.

A certain man had died in the town of Bethany
And Lazarus was his name.
The Bible says he was a man that Jesus loved
and his sisters thought it was a shame.
Mary and Martha longed for Jesus'  healing touch to come and raise their brother cuz they loved that boy so much.
But Jesus had a plan not know to any man that would soon take away their pain.
They were waiting for Jesus to come and say, "Lazarus. Lazarus. Hey, Lazarus. Come forth."

When he died he went to where the Saints of God did stay.
In the Holding Place they lived beyond the tomb.
And there he saw Elijah, Moses, Samuel. Even Ruth.
And all the others jammed up in a room.
He turned around and saw old Gideon  standing by the door,
  he walked up and said,
"Hey Brother, Tell me, what's this group here for?"
Well 'Giddy' said, "Alright! This is Testimony Night. Have a seat man cuz the meeting's starting soon."

While Mary & Martha just wanted to see their Lazarus. Lazarus.
When will their Lazarus come forth?

Moses  shook his stick and said, "Now this meeting come to order. Can I get a witness for the Lord tonight?"

Abraham  kicked it off and said, "I want  you all to know that I knew Him.
He gave a child to my barren wife".

Isaac  waved his hands and said, "Hey Daddy, I knew Him too"

Jacob  jumped up and said, "Amen Grampa. Preach it."

Old dignified Solomon  adjusted his robes and said, "Well, I knew Him too. He made me so smart, Brothers, I started to teach it."

Ezekiel  said, "I knew him as a 'Wheel within a Wheel'."

Job  said, "Man, He healed me when I was almost dead".

Samson  said, " I knew Him when some Philistines tried to jump me. I took a donkey's jawbone and busted a few heads".

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego  said, "We knew him in a Fiery Furnace"

Jonah  said, "Man. He gave me a second chance."

Daniel cried out, " Hey. I knew Him in a hungry den of lions".

The Holy Ghost hit King David . He just started to dance.

Lazarus got so excited and shouted, "Hey man, I knew Him too!"

Moses put down his stick and said, "Hey, who's the new kid?"

Needless to say the room got real quiet when Lazarus said,

"But I knew Him in a way that y'all never did."

I walked with Him. I talked with Him. I saw how His teachings awed the crowds.
Those famous Tears of Compassion? I could actually see them.
He used to come over to my house after church and my two sisters would make him dinner; every month faithfully. I supported His ministry.

I watched Him confront the Pharisees. I was there when He fed the 5,000.
I heard the people gasp when He healed the lame.
I even remember the littlest things. The things most folks would just forget. Like the simple, loving way He would just call my name.

(Now up at the grave; stone rolled away, with a loud voice Jesus starts to say, ...)

... Lazarus.

"You see Brothers, it just seemed like yesterday I could hear that man saying my name. Praise God."
Lazarus.

"As a matter of fact it seems like today I could hear that man saying my name. Praise the Lord."

Lazarus.

"Matter of fact, I think I hear him calling me now.

Lazarus. Jesus?
Lazarus.  Jesus?
Lazarus!  Jesus?!     Lazarus!   Jesus!   LAZARUS!
       JESUS !!!!

 Come forth! Come forth!
I COMMAND YOU! COME FORTH!

Jesus said, "Lazarus". I heard Him say, "Lazarus."
"Lazarus, Come Forth!"

Like He was saying, "Sickness be healed. Mountain be moved." When He said , "Lazarus, come forth."

"Mary don't weep. Martha don't moan. Here come your boy. Coming forth."

"He that believeth in me, tho he were dead, yet shall he live."

HushaBye Mountain Video

The Halloween Memories about Mom made me think of the following "Tuck in Children" song from the film,  "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

(What don't they have at YouTube?!)

(As a child I was "trained" to kiss any grown ups before heading to bed but "Tucking in" was strictly Mom's thing. I wonder who lost out more? Me or Dad?)

Mom's Legacy: Halloween Memories

Mom's Legacy: Halloween Memories

A few months before my 12th birthday (in 1978) I became a Born-Again Christian. That was the last year I "celebrated" Halloween in any way.
Whether it was because I started feeling I should have no part in it as a Christian or I became too old to go out "Trick or Treating or it simply was losing it's childhood innocence, I was ultimately destined to be finished with it as a holiday.

But as my grief for Mom fades I find myself remembering more about our past together. At this moment I remember the first time I didn't go out from door to door on Halloween.

We were living in a town called "Yellowknife" in the very northern parts of Canada where it can be very cold in October. Mom had just made me my "Princess Dress" that summer and I had been planning to wear it on Halloween. When the actual day came it was extremely cold but I got into my dress to go out just after supper. As Mom and I were getting ready to go out she presented me with my parka (a "Parka" is a very large & insulated winter coat). Then the battle of wills began based around my simple question: "How will anyone know I'm a Princess if my dress/costume is covered by a huge coat?"

I was only 6 years old but we began a large debate that came down to her ultimatum : If I don't wear my parka, I can't go outside. My stubborn will kicked in and I said, "Alright. I won't go out then!" She answered in her gentle, calm but firm as steel way, "Then you've made your choice."

I sat there for two hours brooding and punishing her by NOT going out from door to door, which I really actually wanted to do.

As it was approaching 9:00 pm Mom broke the silence between us and said, "It's time for bed, but I'll let you stay up later if you want to do some Trick or Treating".

I thought, "Aha. I finally won! It's about time she came around."
I quickly got back into my dress and then my face fell as I discovered her on the porch holding out not only my parka but a scarf and toque (aka. woolen hat) as well. I hadn't won at all. Because it had gotten even colder as the hours passed, now I would be completely covered from head to toe.
As tears ran down my cheeks I whispered, "But how will anyone know I'm a Princess if I'm covered from head to toe? I want to go out but I just can't do it this way, Mom."

She got down on her knees in front of me, took me in her arms and said, "I'll make you a deal. If we go to the first house and they don't know what you are, we'll come right back home. If they do know what you are, we'll keep going on. But you'll have to decide quickly because it's getting late and people won't be handing out candy much longer".
I hesitated and hung my head.
She lifted my chin, looked into my eyes and said, "Trust your Mommy."

I put on the parka, hat, scarf & mittens. Grabbed my little bag (I had previously draw decorations on) and out we went.

I went to the first house and called out, "Trick or Treat" with my tiny voice.
Mom said, "I'll help you, shall I?"
We called out again together.
They answered the door, gave me candy, I said "Thank You" and quickly turned to make a hasty retreat back down the sidewalk. Suddenly Mom turned me back around and asked the neighbor lady who had answered the door, "Do you mind if I ask you, do you know what my daughter is dressed up as?"

The lady answered quite quickly, "Of course I do. She's a little Princess."

I was totally stunned. My dress was completely covered!

At the end of that house's sidewalk Mom asked me, "So. Do we keep going?"

We went to 8 homes and they all knew I was a "Princess". Except one man who said I was "An angel".

Even at only 6 years old I was already showing my suspicious and mistrusting nature, so by the third home I was watching Mom carefully to see if she was giving them some kind of secret signal as to what I was. Maybe mouthing the word, "Princess" when she thought I couldn't see. She wasn't.

By the time we got back home I have to admit I was getting pretty cold, even in my parka & paraphernalia.

As I was in my warm, flannel nightgown and Mom was tucking me into my bed I asked her simply, "How did they know? I don't understand how everyone knew what I was when they couldn't see the dress."

She answered simply, "A Princess is known by her face and her manners, not by how she's dressed. You are a princess."
She clicked off the light, but as she turned to leave my bedroom she added, "However. I think the man who called you an 'angel' came closer to the truth."

~~ So I dedicate this story to all the "royalty" living among us, no matter what they may be wearing, how old they are and even if they don't realize it themselves.

Personal Poem for "J"

This poem  is a personal message TO someone. Thank you for your indulgence.

NOTE:   I have noticed that poetry can be enjoyed more if you read it OUT LOUD.  It helps you appreciate the cadence (bounce) and rhyme of the words and it slows you down so your mind pays more attention to the words you're speaking. Just FYI.

My Dearest  "J",
That beautiful   BIRTHday
When my life took on that "WOW"

Physically far away,
So I pray and pray.
There's a lot between us now.

I've come to say,
I love just one way.
Knowing you shows me how.

Father will have his way,
Because we're made of clay
And He always fulfills His vow.

~~ by Laura-Lee RAHN  (Edmonton, AB, copyright 2015)

NOTE: Inspired partly by the following words spoken by Jesus.

JOHN 16:21-24

" 'A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.
So with you: Now is your time of grief but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.  Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.' "
