Currently my laptop is frozen solid. Can`t even get the drive door open. So can`t even play a DVD. No TV. Can`t get to library computer. Nothing to do but read my Bible with a pair of reading glassses from the drugstore.
HOWEVER, GOD IS GOOD AND ALWAYS PROVIDES A WAY. Even if it comes from "Left field".
So here is a short post so you don`t worry about me and I`ll explain morewith a good story to tell when He gets me officially back on line. I just can`t believe he`s got all you folks coming to my blog only to shut me down.
PRAISE HIS NAME no matter what tomorrow brings and know I am doing the same.
Love ALWAYS, Laura-Lee

MONTY: "Heat Wave" my Cat's Perspective
In many ways, my cat, MONTY, has become more well known than I am, even though it's MY blog.
He's known by several aliases:
- Muffin Butt
- Lord Montague Longbody CrapPoopKin
- Pretty Boy MONTY
For the past several days we've been enduring a heat wave. Even if it's only 26 Celcius outside, it can be well over 30 Celcius in our home.
So what follows is my attempt to become artistic. I have entitled this photographic Mont-Y-age:
We're Having a Heat Wave

Trying to survive the Heat Wave by sleeping in the kitchen sink |
Maybe sleeping upside down will help |
Maybe sleeping upside down but in a different location? |
HEATWAVE Depression kicks in |
Still depressed but maybe FOOD will help |
"I'll sneak out when Laura-Lee goes somewhere."
(But most purses don't have tails, MONTY)
Whatever the temperature or conditions (or silliness),
MONTY and I wish you a wonderful weekend and a peaceful Sabbath as you put your cares and worries in the hands of Jesus and KNOW He will watch out for you.

Laura-Lee's New Video "Light of the World"
Dear Friends,
I've done what I haven't done in years. I created a NEW video. It took me most of the day, but I have just uploaded it to YouTube as my Sunday Sabbath begins. It turned out 'waaaay' better than my personal talent allows, which is always a "sign" that Jesus is involved.
I certainly hope you enjoy it. I made it specifically with my blog Friends in mind. And don't forget to leave me comments. You KNOW how much I love them.
I hope you continue to have a great long weekend if you live in Canada or America.
Love Laura-Lee
P.S. I added CC (Closed Captioning) to my new video, BUT if you don't need it the first time, maybe do without it. The video flows better without them.

Laura-Lee's Memory, William Shatner's Song, 2 Countries' Birthdays
But especially to my own beloved country of Canada which is 150 years old today.
(YIKES! And I thought I felt old.)
Isn't it strange that a person is "old" at 65 but a country is still considered very "young" at 150?
God bless history.
Have a safe long weekend everyone.
Here's a quick, "Canadian" memory of mine:
When I was a teenager I went on a student exchange for my high school and found myself in Canada's capital city of Ottawa.
My friend and I were wandering around the grounds of our Parliament Buildings while we had some free time, but we didn't realize there was actually an official event just beginning. Before we knew it, we had ended up actually trapped behind a group of Royal Canadian Mounted Police (aka. Mounties) actually on horseback when they suddenly all came to attention (the policemen AND their horses).
We suddenly realized that we were, where we should NOT have been. But the dignitaries had already started arriving (and by carriage no less). My friend and I wanted out of there badly but we were literally trapped behind the horses and could not have escaped without some of them actually moving out of our way. We decided it was better to just quietly stand still and wait it out.
One of the Mounties made eye contact with me and gave an almost imperceptible nod to show that he both understood our dilemma and agreed with our choice to stay put and stand still. My greatest fear was that one of the horses would get "spooked" with us behind them but they are the best trained in the world, so I need not have been concerned.
So my friend and I stood quietly and tried to "look casual" as our brand new Governor General, (the representative of the Queen of England to Canada and the first woman to hold that position) "The Right Honorable Jeanne Sauve" arrived by her carriage, She was welcomed by our Prime Minister, Pierre Elliot Trudeau and several other dignitaries just a few feet away from us.
The entire event was also televised across Canada and I remember wondering if anybody we knew was watching and recognizing us.
"Hey. That can't be Laura-Lee and Kim standing behind those RCMP horses, could it?"
"Knowing them, ... Oh YES, it could!"
Mdme Sauve (We were standing about 15 meters to her left) |
"Thank you, Jesus, for your 'multiplied mercies' ".
"But also, 'thank you' for allowing me to be in some of the most prestigious places in history by allowing me to just "bumble" into them in my own 'special' way".
By the way. I also learned that each of the Mountie's horses have a Maple Leaf (Canada's symbol) shaved into the hair of their butts from the "exalted" place I was standing.
RCMP Horses Rump Hail the "Maple Leaf Forever" |
Happy Birthday, Canada. I love you, Ol' Girl.
And also a nod to my friend, Kim, who shared the entire thing with me. What's also funny is that once the event was over and we were free to leave, I took a picture of Kim that ended up in the school yearbook. But we never told anybody the details of the situation. Only that it was "Kim at the Parliament Buildings".

GOD KNOWS poem
God Knows”
by Minnie Louise Haskins (1875-1957)
And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
And he replied:
“Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.”
So I went forth, and finding the Hand of God, trod gladly into the night.
And He led me towards the hills and the breaking of day in the lone East.
So heart be still: What need our little life Our human life to know, If God hath comprehension?
In all the dizzy strife Of things both high and low, God hideth His intention.
In all the dizzy strife Of things both high and low, God hideth His intention.
God knows. His will Is best.
The stretch of years Which wind ahead, so dimTo our imperfect vision, Are clear to God.
Our fears Are premature;
In Him, All time hath full provision.
The stretch of years Which wind ahead, so dimTo our imperfect vision, Are clear to God.
Our fears Are premature;
In Him, All time hath full provision.
Then rest: until God moves to lift the veil From our impatient eyes,
When, as the sweeter features Of Life’s stern face we hail,
Fair beyond all surmise
God’s thought around His creatures Our mind shall fill.
When, as the sweeter features Of Life’s stern face we hail,
Fair beyond all surmise
God’s thought around His creatures Our mind shall fill.

Birth DAYS in the "Merry, Merry Month of May"
From the last part of April, through the month of May and right into June is the time for birthdays of many of those I love. If I was too sick to send you a greeting directly, I still NEVER forgot about you.
I prayed Jesus' "multiplied mercies" and massive love would find you right where you are, you would know his love personally, and His comfort would forever be wrapped around you.
What I feel for you is often greater than what I can express with my own small words and brain.
But you always have my heart. Right to its core.

Another "Good-bye" [the fourth year]
Some people have souls so big that loving them changes you forever.
Because of Jesus some THINGS and some PEOPLE never die.
Thank you, my heavenly Father, for my earthly Mother.
No fuss. Just a lifetime of giving me her love and herself.

Me (and Amy): Free to Fail
I have always liked Amy Grant's music. And some of it I have even loved. However, I had a hard time with the entire hypocrisy of the situation when she and Vince Gill were divorcing their spouses, getting married to each other and acting like this was fine with Jesus because He just wanted them to be happy. I would cringe as I thought, "Well, let's just add another Christian hypocrite to the pile."
I've never expected anyone to be perfect (in fact I'm so pessimistic I usually expect the opposite) but I've always hoped that among the Christians at least, we would aim for a 'tad' of honesty.
Amy Grant Hollywood "Walk of Fame" |
Now, when I see Amy Grant interviewed I don't cringe because she says things like, "I might have fallen flat on my face but Jesus still loves me."
"Simple Things" (like Honesty) |
And with the wisdom (and sometimes even bravery) that comes from owning our sins and weaknesses will also come the peace we long for. I know this from my own life as I've come in contact with God's limitless forgiveness which is available to me because Jesus paid the "debt of death" for MY sins when He died on the cross.
Now I have the freedom to fail and on a daily basis too. I don't have to pretend to be good when I'm evil, strong when I'm weak, happy when I'm sad, indestructible when I'm crumbling or smart when I can't think of the most basic of answers to the simplest of questions.
No pretending, no lies and nothing to prove.
Jesus loves me "just as I am" but promises to recreate me into what He wants me to be.
"[God's] most awesome work was done through the frailty of His Son."

Just as I Am, Without One Plea
The United Methodist Hymnal Number 357Text: Charlotte Elliott, 1789-1871
Music: William B. Bradbury, 1816-1868
Tune: WOODWORTH, Meter: LM
1. Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidst me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 2. Just as I am, and waiting not to rid my soul of one dark blot, to thee whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 3. Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt, fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 4. Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind; sight, riches, healing of the mind, yea, all I need in thee to find, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 5. Just as I am, thou wilt receive, wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; because thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 6. Just as I am, thy love unknown hath broken every barrier down; now, to be thine, yea thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. |
Happy Sabbath Sunday
When you turn 40 you're all concerned about gray hair, wrinkles, and aging.
But, when you turn 50, you feel like you've really accomplished something and those scars and wrinkles seem like badges of honor for surviving half of 100 years.
And, of course, you get told the secret handshake. (Oops! I don't think I'm allowed to mention that.)
Have a happy and RESTful Sabbath. Doing NOTHING without any guilt because you know it's what God actually has Commanded you to do.
(Of course, there's a "little" more to it than just being lazy for a day. But we'll get into that another time.)
Love Laura-Lee
Exodus 20:8-11
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Poetry for the Weary by M.S. Lowndes
A peaceful, RESTful Sabbath day to all my blog friends and visitors. Time to take a "breather" from a week of "hectic". And know that God desires you to do it more than you even realize you need it.
Love Laura-Lee
P.S. Remember: Poetry is best when said out loud.
Rest For The Weary
by M.S. Lowndes
There is rest for the weary
And there's strength for the weak,
That is what God offers
To those who humbly seek
And there's strength for the weak,
That is what God offers
To those who humbly seek
For it's only in the seeking
That we will surely find
Rest for our weary bodies
And peace for our troubled minds
That we will surely find
Rest for our weary bodies
And peace for our troubled minds
And it's there in the asking
That we will come to know
God in all His splendour
With His wisdom, we will grow
That we will come to know
God in all His splendour
With His wisdom, we will grow
And it's only in the knocking
That the door will open wide
So we can walk into
What He graciously provides
That the door will open wide
So we can walk into
What He graciously provides

MONTY in the "doghouse"
MONTY'S been purposely acting bad and doing wrong. but he is still so cute. I wish I didn't have to discipline him and we could just cuddle and love each other. I long to hold him close when I know I can't.
I wonder if MY [heavenly] Master feels the same thing about me.
L-L
Thank you
you've kept me going beyond what I thot I could. Is that one of the definitions of friendship?

Memories. What We're Made Of
Sometimes a memory is too deep, too precious, too secret and not yet ripe enough to be shared. But they live on warm, bright and fragrant inside of me.
How did I come to be so honored to hold the memories of four generations of my family?!
"O Lord! Don't let me forget one second or the smallest nuance of the moments entrusted to my care."
