HIDEOUS Speller - BEAUTIFUL Mind

I have never made a secret of the fact that I am a hideous speller. So I have a Spell Check on my Web browser AND I always hit the Spell Check that is connected to Blogger Posts AND I have another one attached to my computer to discern ALL that I write. That way I make sure that I'm covered 3 different ways.

But even with all my efforts I couldn't help but laugh at the lad who didn't know where to leave the comment to say he thought I was "a truly great writer but an atrocious speller". But you'll have to give me a break because sometimes the 3 Spell Checks can't even agree on how a word should be spelled and then I'm left up to my own devices. Also consider that the Americans, Canadians and British often spell the same word differently. (Like neighbour/neighbor or humor/humour) Then, when I throw in Biblical words like "mammon, jot and tittle" and my Spellchecks go on strike, what's a girl to do? But it's hard to be insulted by his comment when 1) it's the truth and 2) he thought I was "great writer".[sigh]

I suppose you will simply have to overlook  my spelling mistakes if you wish to continue enjoying my creative genius. Sometimes my excuse is simply that I've been typing for 4 hours or more and my fingers get tired and miss a key. An all important key!

Like the time I wrote: "all that I do, I do for my public" but missed the 'L' in the word 'Public'. Yes. My poor spelling isn't only hideous, it's down right embarrassing sometimes. Sow bee kind two me, aye have bean threw a lot.

Alberta Floods (Canada)

Calgary is a large city in the province where I live. But regardless of where it is, I always hate to hear about flooding and people sent out of their homes. It is always the worst on the elderly, the sick and mothers with young children. I cringe for all of them.

For those of us who are warm and dry in our homes this night and this weekend, let's say a prayer for those who are not and who are probably very unsure what  tomorrow may bring.

Marines Carry Cross - True Story

These photos include a gripping story of Marines who carried a wooden cross to the top of a hill at Camp Pendleton. Ray Mendoza (3rd from left, hugging the cross) was memorialized on the front page of the “B” section of the “Los Angeles Times” about six months ago as the soldier least expected to be killed in action. He was a commissioned officer (Captain at the time, and later promoted to Major, posthumously) who was extremely courageous and loved by his troops. Also included in the photo is LCPL Robert P. Zurheide, Jr. who is the 1st person on the right side of the cross, peering from under the arm of another marine who was also killed in action. Following is the story from Chaplain Scott Radetski (in front of the cross in the middle of the photo).

Before we left for Iraq, we muscles a fourteen-foot wooden telephone cross to the top of San Onorfre Mountain. One single individual could not have carried this weight to the top, but together, seven of us accomplished the difficult task. This marker eventually became a permanent marker of remembrance. Countless Marines and sailors braved the journey to the top, carrying with them a stone of remembrance. A permanent 1st Marine Regiment Diamond with southern Cross was laid to rest at the foot of the cross.
LCPL Robert P. Zurheide, Jr., one of the original seven men who carried the cross to the top, was killed in Iraq. The night he died, I carried his lifeless body off the truck and laid him to rest, as the corpsmen worked to save the wounded Marines. Several days later, on the very spot where three marines died, including Zurheide, four Marines were baptised. Robert had a son born four days after he died. We braved the journey he made a year ago, to the top of San Onorfre Mountain, to dedicate his son to the Lord. His son, Robert P. Zurheide, III, will touch the same cross his father carried up the hill.
The burdens of war are far-reaching, dulled by the passage of time. Alone, they are overwhelming, but together they can be moved. For this young lad, whose dad gave his all for the freedom of many, our prayers are that as Robert Zurheide III grows, he will know that his Father in heaven, God, draws near to those who have no earthly fathers.

"Where Is God When I Hurt" (newly created video)

I haven't created a new video since Christmas last year. I didn't feel like doing a bunch of typing today, so I made a video instead.

Obviously, because of Mom's recent death, I've been dealing with a lot of pain and I've noticed there are a LOT of hurting people around! This video doesn't give the entire answer to the question, "Where is God When I Hurt?"  , but maybe we can find some comfort in facing our pain together.

Teenager's Plea in Frightening World

I usually get several inspirational and funny stories in my email Inbox each day, but only once or twice have I actually published/posted it somewhere. Well, this is the third time. It speaks for itself. Both tragic and heroic.

BY A 15 yr. OLD SCHOOL KID who got an A+ for this entry (TOTALLY AWESOME)! Since the Pledge of Allegiance And The Lord's Prayer Are not allowed in most Public schools anymore Because the word 'God' is mentioned..... A kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer: "New Pledge of Allegiance" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd. If scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter now. Our hair can be purple, orange or green, That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.. The law is specific, the law is precise. Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. For praying in a public hall Might offend someone with no faith at all.. In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks... They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible. To quote the Good Book makes me liable. We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King. It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong, We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.. We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles... But the Ten Commandments are not allowed, No word of God must reach this crowd. It's scary here I must confess, When chaos reigns the school's a mess. So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot; My soul please take!
