Martyn Iles has launched a new sermon series on Revelation for his new At the Crux ministry.
It seems quite a good series on the surface and Martyn is a very good talker speaker, but I became suspicious because he keeps referring to Polycarp as the "Bishop of Smyrna" who received the letter written to the Church of Smyrna in Revelation, chapter 2. Then he gives various details about Polycarp's life and martyrdom. The main problem with this is, THERE IS NO POLYCARP in the BIBLE. It's merely a story made up by the early Catholic church, who later canonized Polycarp (had the Pope declare him a Saint) which was adopted by some mainline Anglican and Lutheran churches centuries later.
Also, Martyn extensively quotes St. Augustine, which I recognize having been brought up a Catholic. Augustine (yet another of the myriad of officially canonized Catholic Saints) says some mighty pretty and quotable stuff in his many, many, MANY writings, but he is very unsound doctrinally.
Knowing Martyn to be easily influenced and swayed by the people he spends his time with, I assumed he was spending a LOT of time with Catholics. Upon further investigation, it turns out the person writing the new Homeschool curriculum Iles is soon to be selling is a former Benedictine Monk, whom Martyn Iles has declared to be "a genius" and is one of the co-founders of Proto.
The third Co-Founder of PROTO, and working behind the scenes,, whom Martyn also declares is "a genius", used to work for Apple and is currently constructing the AI program that oversees Proto.
Let me reiterate what I have already warned about using Artificial Intelligence in childhood development.
Humans learn predominantly through Trial and Error. This is especially essential to our early development. AI takes that essential process away and does the work for us, which has led to "brain rot" which is, clinically speaking, measurable brain damage in children and is showing up in big, tragic and dramatic ways in Generation Alpha as severe behavioral problems. Violent outburts, inability to remain seated, fits of screaming, inability to comprehend basic instructions, unable to do any problem solving or think systematically, etc. etc.

Let me just say, when it comes to child development there is no such thing as "good" or "Christian" AI. It's all detrimental to children.
So between these three self-proclaimed "GENIUSES" who have co Founded Proto, I will NOT be recommending it at this time.
Also, with all the non Biblical content Martyn Iles's is slipping into his sermons, I will not be recommendeing them either. I think you should be giving these ventures a skip too. Or at least be wary of each time Martyn says the words, "Tradition states" which is code for "NOT in the BIBLE".
As far as my own sensibilities and convictions, I don't want to hear sermons on things that are NOT in the Bible, when I could spend my life studying things that ARE in the Bible and still never plumb to its depths.
