Waiting for Trash Pickup (poem)

(* poetry needs to be read
out loud)

Trash Pickup

Castaway Trash

That's me

Just walk past

I'm not worthy

Where are we going?

What is our solace?

It's in the knowing

Jesus still wants us.

✝️

There was a Jewish business man on a trip. He was robbed and beaten and left for dead by the side of the road.

One Jewish person came  by and not only did not help him, but actually crossed the road to avoid him.

Then a Jewish Priest went by and also crossed the road to avoid the beaten, dying man.

Then a person from the ethnic background of Samaria saw the beaten man and went to rescue him. He gave him first aid, brought him to safety and paid for his medical treatment.

BTW Samaritans at that time were shunned by Jews and lived apart from them even though they both worshipped the One True God.

And many Centuries later we are still telling the story of the Good Samaritan.

Rescuing someone who would be spitting on you in different circumstances

or

forgiving the people who are crucifying you is the very essence of Jesus Christ.

He knows what you're feeling and enduring. You're the one Jesus has come for and died for.
