I Love the Biblical Dude Eleazar 🥰

After the Shepherd boy, David, had been anointed to be the future King of Israel by the prophet Samuel, but before he took the throne, he had to live in caves to hide from the current king, Saul, who was out to kill him.

Several men sought him out to join him.

"All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him." (1 Samuel 22:2)

Basically a bunch of malcontents and ruffians.

But they gradually grew in their skills and character and became known in history as The Mighty Men of David. Absolutely loyal to him unto death.

But as I read about them for the first time when I was a teenager one particular man stood out for me and he ultimately rose to become known as one of King David's Three Mighty Warriors.

"Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty warriors, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered at Pas Dammim for battle. Then the Israelites retreated, but Eleazar stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead." (2 Samuel 23:11)

Eleazar "stood his ground" and fought to the point where his hand "froze to his sword". And it happened because he was extremely "tired". He stood by his King and fought even after the entire army had fled.

THAT IS COMPLETELY AWESOME❗️😃

What is a man?

Eleazar is a man!

But ☝️ he didn't start out awesome, he BECAME awesome. And he became awesome through BATTLE.

And that's a good lesson for ALL of us (men AND women) who often face a battle and all we feel is the overwhelming desire to tuck-tail and RUN. 😳

The Truth with Love.
