In the Bible, there are hyper accurate genealogies that go from Adam right up to the birth of Jesus. And there are no gaps in these genealogies. They state that a specific person was a certain age and then fathered a certain child and then that child was a certain age and then they had their child and so on and so on. All these genealogies add up to around 4,000 years and, since we know historically that Jesus lived 2000 years ago, we come to the conclusion that the Earth is approximately 6,000 years old, which is known as Young Earth Theory.
So when we are told a Fossil is 8 MILLION years old according to Carbon Dating, Creation Scientists say that Carbon Dating is wrong and should be ignored. The reason this is an "elephant in the room" is because there are many times when Carbon Dating is extremely accurate. So how do we reconcile these two things? 💁♀️
I'm here to explain that by taking you on several hypothetical (made up) archeological digs.
Archeological Dig Number 1.
Let's say that you find in a dig a small piece of pottery that is too small for a historian to identify. So it is sent off for carbon dating and they estimate it to be 150 to 200 years old. Then later, at the same dig several coins and a cooking pot are unearthed that historians can identify from 170 years ago. So the carbon dating is proven accurate.
Archeological Dig Number 2.
Let's say a small ring is discovered, but it is so disintegrated and there's not much left of it that no one can identify it. So it is sent off for Carbon Dating and it is estimated to come from 2000 to 3000 years ago. Then they discover a few weapons and some cooking utensils at the dig that the historians can verify come from 2 500 years ago. Again the Carbon Dating is shown to be right.
Archeological Dig Number 3.
Let's say. a fossil is discovered and it is sent for Carbon Dating, and it is estimated to come from 100,000 to 500,000 years ago, but because it is from a prehistoric period (which means before there is any written records of something) there is no secondary way to verify the age of the fossil.
Now let's pause here to insert some common sense, basic mathematics and my pretty little chart.
