A Covert Narcissist, one that uses subtle tactics and strategies, will use Integrity as a weapon in order to appear good so they can gain sympathy and garner more control.
Here are some examples:
🔴 They will admit mistakes in a few things to appear vulnerable but then be upset at other times if they are criticized.
🔴 They will be humble in one aspect of their lives yet demonstrate arrogance in another area.
🔴 They will be honest with one person but then lie to another.
🔴 They will be very generous to one person but then turn around and cheat somebody else.
OR
🔴 they may demonstrate Integrity for a short period of time if they are fearful of losing the adoration of the person (or people) their narcissism feeds off of.
or
🔴 if they are fearful that someone they are using will walk away,
Then they will revert to their former behavior a few weeks later.
Real Integrity doesn't work that way.
A person with legitimate integrity doesn't alter their ethics depending on the situation and won't live their lives under the banner of “the end justifies the means”.
We all make occasional mistakes but if a person really does have integrity it is demonstrated in EVERY aspect of their lives. Right across the board.
