On Again; Off Again Grooms (Poem)

On Again; Off Again Grooms

by Laura-Lee Rahn

Cowering in your rooms

While Impending Justice Looms

Running on Holy Ghost fumes.

The On again; Off again Grooms

Purposely you return to Sin's Hole

Playing odds like moral Wack-a-Mole

Marco Polo! Marco Polo!

Where did Grace go?

God's riches you've been flaunting

While Destruction you've been taunting.

Carnal fringes you've been haunting

Now judged and found wanting.

Undoing words of false tender

Deleting nights of surrender.

Hung over from Love-Bombing Bender

Behold the Great Pretender!

Not letting candle ends meet

Or from rushed proposals retreat

Won't restore the path to Mercy's seat

Only repentant tears on scarred feet

"May I See You Home?"

Sometimes people are in complete "meltdown mode" but they are "to-ing and fro-ing" so much they aren't looking in the mirror long enough to notice their condition or that a total collapse is on the way.

OR ☝️

maybe they do realize what's going on but they don't know how to make it stop.

It's like they are spinning on a merry-go-round and feeling sick but it's spinning so fast they are just holding on for dear life.

Their false friends, people riding the "gravy train" on their coat tails and the pleasure seeking "Good-time Charlies" in their lives are going to do nothing to help them. They are just exacerbating the problem.

You may be just the stabilizing force they need, even if you're just a temporary or brief one. And you may be the only one because true friends don't show up that often anymore.

Keep in mind, you have to be pretty stable yourself if someone is going to lean on you or you will both fall.

Always tell them the Truth, listen to them, be willing to put up with some garbage while they're cleaning up their lives and make sure they get Home safely.

Unconditional love in its simple, steadfast, elegant glory. 😊

" and your feet fitted with the readiness that comes  from the gospel of peace."

Ephesians 6:15

What sparked this post was  the song "Drive" by The Cars, which came out in 1984 when I was 18 years old (Oops❗️🀭 Accidentally outed my age on the internet again). It came up on an old Playlist of mine today and I remembered that when I first heard it I thought, "That is the oddest song (and video)  about true love I have ever heard."

What do you think?

"DRIVE" by The Cars 🎢

(You'll need to wear sun glasses for this one. It's a Ric Ocasek Thing. 😎)
